Team
This venture is the natural evolution of the hospitality design practice that Eric Adolfsen and Carlton DeWoody built at their studio Reunion Goods & Services. In that time, both have worked with prominent real estate developers and hospitality groups across the country.
Carlton DeWoody is a co-founder and partner of Format. Carlton oversees Format’s West Coast office, leading creative direction and investment strategy across its projects.
Before launching Format, Carlton co-founded the interior design and branding studio Reunion Goods & Services where he has led the creative direction for many projects, including Landmark West Loop for Related Companies, Wildwood for Starwood Capital, the art biennial Desert X and Audrey at the Hammer in Los Angeles. Carlton studied at Tulane University and received his bachelor's degree from The New School.
As a fourth-generation New Yorker and member of the Rudin family, Carlton is building upon his real estate roots with a narrative-driven approach to design and architecture.
Eric Adolfsen is a co-founder and partner of Format. Eric leads Format’s design team and oversees strategy from concept through launch.
Prior to Format, Eric co-founded the interior design and branding studio Reunion Goods & Services where he has led the creative direction for many projects, including Quality Eats as well as Hotel Eventi and L'Amico for DLJ Real Estate Capital and Pinewood Social for Strategic Hospitality. Earlier in his career, Eric was a director at Brand New School and oversaw the global re-brand of Cartoon Network. Passionate about crafting experiences, Eric also opened The Wooly, a speakeasy and restaurant in the landmark Woolworth Building.
